City Loop Trail
The City Loop Trail is a project that was developed through the efforts of the Stephens County High School Interact Club, Toccoa Rotary Club, the 2014 Toccoa-Stephens County Leadership class and Main Street Toccoa. The trail was made to promote a healthier community.
The loop itself is actually two loops: one starting at Rotary Park, located in the Foothills Shopping Center, and the other at the Historic Train Depot, located at 160 North Alexander Street. The first, starting at Rotary Park, is just over 2 miles. The second, which initiates at the Historic Train Depot, is one mile in length. Both can be combined to reach 3.10 miles, or a 5K. This was intended to allow members of the community a safe area to train for 5K races, such as the Interact and Rotary “Stuff the Bus 5K” that is held each year to help collect food for local distribution centers in Toccoa.
The Rotary Club of Toccoa is the local chapter of Rotary International. Rotary International is 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world. Our local club sponsors the Top 5 program, through which we recognize annually the top 5 performing students in grades 6-11 and award scholarships to the top 5% of the graduating class. Side by side we work together in our community to raise money for local organizations, support our Interact Club and partner with them for our annual Stuff the Bus campaign, and do community service work in the Toccoa-Stephens County area. If you would like to learn more about our club, contact Mary Demmler or Phil Hobbs.
Interact Club is an organization for young people that want to make a difference in their world. We focus on two service projects a year: one that helps our school or local community and one that promotes international understanding.
